BBC iWonder: Quintinshill Rail Disaster – Tragedy in a time of tragedy

In May 1915, 230 soldiers from The Royal Scots were killed in the train crash in Quintinshill near the Scottish border.  They were on their way to fight in Gallipoli in Turkey during WW1.  Nearly 500 soliders boarded the train and only 65 escaped uninjured.  The army wanted to send these traumatised men to fight at the front line in Gallipoli.  More information in this feature for BBC iWonder.
